This landscaping project for the Zion Securities in the new Shoal Creek Valley development was designed and completed using near exclusively regionally native plant material. Each of the ten new homes has narrow foundation beds fully planted with a variety of native plants arranged in an ornamental display of what is typically thought of as "wild" plants.
All ten homes were designed as a single project and served as the model neighborhood for the single family housing type. Each house required landscaping and a different concept was applied to hold each out as a unique design. Site trees were dispersed throughout the site to complete the cohesiveness of the site's native theme. Again, regionaly native plant material was selected whenever possible using both evergreen and deciduous trees.
This $68,000 landscaping project won a Missouri Department of Agriculture '2004 Grow Native! Vision Award' for the unique use of native plant materials.
