Shoal Creek Village Entry
North 79th & Flintlock Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Installed Fall 2004.

This landscaping project for The Zion Securities in the new Shoal Creek Valley development was designed and completed using near exclusively regionally native plant material.  Meadow beds flanking the entry road were fully planted with a variety of native grasses and forbs to recreate a mesic prairie scenario.

The wood's edges received landscaping infill that simulates the natural conditions found in mesic forests of the region.  Native tree species were dispersed throughout the woods to complete the canopy of the site's preconstruction condition.

The entry markers were planted with regionally native plant material selected whenever possible using both evergreen and deciduous trees to compliment the structures.

This $45,000 landscaping project was part of the development that won a Missouri Department of Agriculture '2004 Grow Native! Vision Award' for the unique use of native plant materials.
