Loughlin Studios, located in metropolitan Kansas City, is a small landscape architectural firm offering design services in areas of commercial, residential, and public project development. Personal attention is rendered to each project by owner-employee, R. Peter Loughlin, Jr. |
Professional Background
Pete Loughlin is a professional landscape architect with thirty-four years of experience. He holds a professional license in three states (Missouri, Kansas, and Wyoming) and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Mr. Loughlin graduated in 1976 from Purdue University's Landscape Architecture program with a Bachelor's Degree, and in 1994, Pete received an Architecture Master's Degree from the University of Kansas. He worked the year after obtaining his BS degree for a small office in Rockford, Illinois, then for twenty-six years for Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation, and since 2003 as a self employed landscape architect operating Loughlin Studios.
Philosophy
Pete has been applying his philosophy of "Making the City Beautiful" through his work as a landscape architect over the past thirty-four years, and he has given the attention needed to all aspects of each project so the users could most fully enjoy the built results. Pete believes in the sustainable values of using regionally native plant materials, and he strives to incorporate them on each new project.
Native Values
Loughlin Studios believes regionally native plant material is available for nearly every design situation. Several thousand years of development gives these plants their natural beauty and high resiliancy to our area's poor soils and temperature extremes. These plants help define the sense of place that is unique to our region of the midwestern United States. Using these highly adapted natives could lower the life cycle costs of a landscape installation significantly when comparing reduced requirements for watering, spraying, trimming, and plant longevity.
